Accepted Items & Guidelines
Accepted Items & Guidelines
We accept a wide range of maternity and children’s items, but they must meet our quality standards.
Clothing Items Accepted: We accept maternity clothing, children’s clothing (Newborn to Size 18/20), junior girls’ clothing, and teen boys’ clothing in sizes S and M.
Clothing Drop-Off Guidelines: Clothing must be freshly laundered and laid flat in a sturdy box, bin, or laundry basket. Please do not fold items, and ensure the container is not overflowing or over-stacked. One container per day is allowed. We do not accept clothing in trash bags.
Additional Accepted Items (No Quantity Limit!): In addition to your container of clothing, you can bring in shoes, toys, baby gear, books, games, DVDs, and other similar items.
All items must be complete, clean, and in ready-to-sell condition. If you have questions about specific brands or items we do not accept, please call the store at 352-433-2833.
Consignment Splits & Payouts
💰 Standard Consignment Split: 40% Goes Straight to You! We handle all the work: promoting, displaying, and selling your items quickly. You just relax and collect when it’s sold.
💰 Larger Items, Large Toys & Baby Gear Split: 50/50
How You Get Paid
- Once your account is set up, you’ll be able to check your account balance online.
- You can pick up your earnings as soon as your items sell.
- We process payments directly in-store—just stop by to collect your money!

Drop-Off Information
No Appointment Needed! You can drop off your items during the following hours:
- Monday: 10 AM – 4 PM
- Tuesday: No drop-offs
- Wednesday – Friday: 10 AM – 4 PM
- Saturday: 10 AM – 2 PM
We do not accept drop-offs on Tuesdays.
Consignment vs. Thrift vs. Resale
What’s the difference?
Consignment: A consignment shop, like The Monkey Cage, sells items on behalf of the owner. The seller receives a percentage of the sale price once the item is sold.
Thrift Store: A thrift shop typically sells donated goods, often benefiting a nonprofit organization. Items are usually priced lower, and sellers do not receive payment for their donations.
Resale Store: A resale shop buys items upfront from sellers and resells them at a markup. Unlike consignment, sellers are paid immediately but may receive less for their items than through consignment.
